Yvon Deschenes, 89, surrounded by his family, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 17, 2017, at Vision Nursing Home, Sarnia. Yvon is survived by his wife Jacqueline, his son Michel (partner Maureen) Deschenes, his daughters Suzanne (the late Hank) Joosse, Lorraine (Doug) Park, Claudette (Denis) Drapeau, and his son Andre (Shelley) Deschenes. Dear brother of Jean (Edouina) Deschenes, Fernand (Gloria) Deschenes, Adrien (Yvette) Gagnon, Ralph (Rita) Cote of Grand Falls, NB, Edgar (Jeanette) Rioux of Altholville, NB, and Roland (Wendy) Deschenes of Darmouth, NS, Armand Godbou of Drumond, NB, and Clifford (Fernand) Voutour. Lovingly remembered by his 9 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his brother Oneil (May) Deschenes and his sister Leonie Godbou. Yvon lived life to the fullest. Born on August 7, 1927, he was the merchant marine and a lumberjack before working as an operator at Fiberglass for 30 + years. Retirement didn’t slow him down any; he brought his carpentry and painting skills to the Arctic and built homes for the Inuit. He loved to laugh; his pranks were things of legend. A special thanks to the staff at Vision Nursing Home for the love they shared with Yvon, he loved you guys. Yvon was loved and will be missed by all. Cremation has taken place.
