Death Notice

Peacefully, surrounded by family and friends on Thursday, June 15, 2017, at Twin Lakes Terrace, Joyce Eleanor Snauwaert passed away at the age of 95. Beloved wife of the late George (1996). Loving mother of Nancy MacNeill (Larry), Judy Doucher (David), and Gary (Bonnie) Snauwaert. Cherished grandmother of Todd MacNeill (Chantal), Dean MacNeill, Annette Carella, Dan (Linda) Doucher, Shaun Snauwaert (Stephanie), and Ryan Snauwaert (Julie). Treasured great grandmother of Craig, Chad, Kelsey, Teighan, Levi, Vince, Alyssa, Kaitlyn, and Emma. Dear sister of Glenn Moore (Audrey) and Gloria Gardner (late Bill). Also remembered by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents George and Mildred Moore and by her son-in-law Allan (2001). Joyce was a longtime member of Parker Street United Church and more recently, a member of Dunlop United Church. She was a caring and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She had a great sense of humour and made the most delicious butter tarts! Joyce will be deeply missed by her family and friends. A special thank you to the staff of Twin Lakes Terrace for their wonderful care and compassion. A funeral service will be held at SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, on Monday, June 19, 2017, at 11:00 a.m., with family and friends being received one hour prior. Interment to follow in Lakeview Cemetery. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to the charity of your choice (cheques only at the funeral home please).


Family and friends will be received at Smith Funeral Home on Monday, June 19, 2017, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.


A funeral service will be held at Smith Funeral Home on Monday, June 19, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow in Lakeview Cemetery.

    We are so sorry to hear that Joyce has passed away. Elva enjoyed her sweet smile & humorous comments in the dining room at Twin Lakes Terrace, Their shared fellowship through Dunlop United Church was also a special bond that will be missed. Our thoughts & prayers to the family at this sad time.

    Nancy and family,,,, thinking of your mom makes me smile ,,, we have known her for so many years,,, from our early babysitting of Todd and Dean at her house and then choosing the design for our wedding cake and grooms cake..

    Sorry to hear you lost your Mom. She was a lovely lady and always was very nice to me. I'm sure you will miss her, as well as her butter tarts. I remember the cakes that Joyce made, they were truly works of art :).

    Sincere condolences to the family.Take comfort in knowing you all have a guardian angel looking over you.
    Joyce was truly a wonderful person.
    She emanated character values, caring,compassion and love to all who knew her.
    And yes she did make the best butter tarts.
