“I am who I am today because I knew you”
With deep grief, the family of Denise McKinlay wish to announce her passing. Although she was courageous in dealing with illness, we wish for her to be remembered for her witty humour, love of learning, and her compassionate nature. She was a true social worker with an innate ability to connect with those she encountered. Denise was a champion of youth and social justice, loved nature and had a profound sense of spirituality that guided her in life and relationships. Those Denise loved, she did with her whole heart, most importantly her husband Bob, daughters Becki, Megan and Heather, the lights of her life, grandchildren Nathan, Jacob, and Brier. She has also forever impacted the lives of her mother Rosemary, father Harry and her sister Cheryl. Her mother and father-in-law Colleen and Russ, brothers-in-law Randy (Cindy), Rod (Patti), Dave (Brandy) and sister-in-law Lori, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family, and cherished friends.
Cremation has taken place. We will be honouring her at SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., and Thursday, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. with a memorial service being held immediately following. Please remember to celebrate and appreciate every day as she did. We will be having a celebration of life following the service at 5:30 p.m. at Best Western Guildwood Inn, 1400 Venetian Blvd, Point Edward. Please come and share memories of Denise with those who loved her.
