Death Notice

It is with deeply saddened hearts that we announce the passing of Gerry Latta at Bluewater Health on Monday, February 12, 2018, surrounded by her family at the age of 77. Beloved wife of Raymond Latta for 55 years. Loving mother to Dale (Dawn) and Todd (Jennifer) Latta. Caring grandmother to Brooke, Brett, Cameron and Andrew Latta. Remembered by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Joseph and Helen Glidden and her sisters Betty (Jack) Osborne, Audrey (Bill) Calder and Rita (Les) Lea. Gerry was a teacher with the Lambton Kent District School Board. She volunteered for the Canadian Cancer Society, Diabetes Canada, Inn of the Good Shepherd Food Bank, and by reading to ESL students. Gerry enjoyed playing golf, tennis, and bridge and loved art, especially painting. A special thank you to Dr. Taylor, Dr. Maddison, and the staff of Bluewater Health for their care and compassion. Family and friends will be received at SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, on Wednesday, February 14, 2018, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Smith Funeral Home on Thursday, February 15, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be held in Grand Bend Cemetery. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to Bluewater Health Palliative Care or the Inn of the Good Shepherd (cheques only at the funeral home please).

Visitation

Family and friends will be received at Smith Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 14, 2018, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.

Service

A funeral service will be held at Smith Funeral Home on Thursday, February 15, 2018, at 11:00 a.m.

Donations

Sympathy may be expressed through donations to Bluewater Health Palliative Care or the Inn of the Good Shepherd (cheques only at the funeral home please).

    So sorry to hear of Gerrys passing. She was a wonderful lady who would sit and enjoy watching my boys play in the backyard. Many nice chats over the fence and she taught me what was a weed and what was a plant.lol.She will be greatly missed. Hugs

    My condolences to Gerry's family...As a fellow teacher I had the opportunity to work with Gerry in the school system..She was a caring teacher with a great sense of humor that I will remember. Having taught her sons as well, I share their grief at the loss of their mom...

    It's been difficult not to see Gerry's smiling face at the diner for her diet coke or lemonaide with lots of ice. Her laugh will be missed the most.
